Stephen Ministry

Christ Caring For People

Through People

Stephen Ministry assists people facing "times of transition"- not limited to crisis.

What is Stephen Ministry?

  •  A one-to-one ministry by trained, caring parishioners.

  • A long-term helping relationship focusing on the unique needs of each person.

  • A commitment to caring and support, in order to build a Christ-centered, sharing community.

  • A ministry named after St. Stephen, the first deacon in the early church, commissioned by the apostles to care for the needs of the community.

How does the Stephen Ministry Meet the Needs of People?

It helps...

      ·        People who are hospitalized.

      ·        People who are grieving the loss of a loved one.

      ·        People who are lonely.

      ·        People who are separated or being divorced.

      ·        People who are homebound.

      ·        People experiencing the birth of a child.

      ·        People who are dying, and the families of the terminally ill.

      ·        People experiencing loss of a job, or financial setbacks.

      ·        People who are struggling with their faith.

      ·        People with long-term illness.

      ·        People who are aging and elderly.

      ·        People who are moving.

      ·        People who are new members in the church or community.

      ·        Many others.

Who are Stephen Ministers?

  • Lay persons, men or women, who seek an opportunity to use their God-given gifts and graces for God's work. Through training they will develop their skills for bringing Christ's healing love to those who are lonely, grieving, ill, divorcing, or experiencing other stresses in life.

  • Caring, sharing persons who reach out a supporting hand to address the spiritual, social, and emotional needs of our community.

  • Committed Christians who are willing to invest 50 hours in the initial training, and make ongoing commitments to caring relationships and supervision.
