United Methodist Women News - March:
Are you a part of this organized community of women whose purpose is to know God and experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ? Through supportive fellowship with others around the world you participate in the Global Ministries of our church. United Methodist Women reach out to those in need and respond with love, caring and monetary gifts. For more than 140 years, our women have shown God’s love in over 60 countries and through over 100 institutions in the US including hospitals, schools, clinics and Community Centers.
Over 200 women are listed in our new Membership Directory and only 1/4 of these are current UMW members. If you are not a member of our UMW, you can join by committing your prayers to grown in relationship with God and others; your time to respond to human need through study and action; and your financial gifts in the global ministries of the church.
Our programs usually come from our “Response” magazine or books from our reading program on themes of Spiritual Growth, Mission Education or Social concerns - all filled with hope and challenges. This month our four circles will observe “Prayer and Self-Denial”. This special offering will be divided between US and International projects to expand facilities for new programs as well as making repairs to maintain buildings and property at our missions.
Each Circle has several shut-ins they visit and remember on special days. Also each Circle is to adopt one or more missionaries to keep in touch with and encourage.
Four of our officers attended a district Officers Training Day recently and we hosted the Jelly City Seniors February Meeting with a program by Linda Tibbitts.
We are pleased to note that three of our younger women plan to attend the up-coming world-wide Assembly Meeting (held every four years) which will be in St. Louis. They will be sharing our UMW News the next couple of months.
Remember, you are welcome to attend any of our circle meetings. If you have any questions about UMW or the four Trinity Circles please, feel free to call me at 330-683-0244. Having been a UMW member for over 60 years and a two-time past President, there is a privilege and responsibility in being a part of this mission-oriented women’s organization.
