Trustees Update

Note From the Trustees

August 2011

We have been getting ready for another school year.  Wendy Thompson, the new Nursery School Director has been working hard using the adage "Less is More" -meaning less clutter means more useful storage.  Margaret Shaffer is getting the floors to shine and American Carpet Cleaning has the carpets all looking good and smelling fresh.  John Gregory is keeping the outside looking good.  The vent to nowhere in room 105 is now a hatch to somewhere.  And the ceiling in the nursery will stay in place for a while.  Norm touched up the paint in the hallways a while ago but everything looks fresh.  The refrigerator in the old kitchen, now the art/class room, was been replaced and we now have an ice machine too.  Those of you who wanted help purchase it can do so by putting your donation in the offering plate, marked "refrigerator".  Thanks to all who saw the need and stepped up.  The lines in the parking lots are painted thanks to Norm, Margie, Jackie and Sharon.

Work on the parsonage has started.  If anyone wants to help, let the trustees now what you can do and we will compare it to the list of projects.  Chimney work has started and Dean Reusser is getting the stone to cover the old bricks to give it a fresh look.  The roof is next including the vents for the bathroom and dryer. Doors and some windows needs replaced, we are adding dead bolt locks to all doors, and a bathroom needs redone to name a few.  We will go until the money runs out for this year.

Remember " less is more"  as there is no real storage at the church!

Thanks to All!!!

July 2011

I can’t believe it is July already. So much is happening at the church and it is hard to keep up!!

  • We had plugged drains and down spouts.  Did anyone notice the terrible odor in the restrooms?  And in the north parking lot when we ran the dishwasher? All has been cleaned.

  • We are winning the war with the termites. This project should be completed by the end of the month.

  • The trustee budget is in good shape meaning we have not spent all of our money yet this year.  We changed our budget number and looks to be on target for utilities $27,000 this year. We spent $27,286 last year. This includes electric, natural gas, cable TV and internet. Total budget number spent this year $37,537, with a balance of approximately $50,000.

  • There is no day care this summer and this is a savings for our budget but it is an empty space at our church.

  • The fire extinguishers and suppression system has been checked.

Thanks to all!!!
